Donation from the Würth Foundation: €25,000 for the educational project ‘The Cell as a Power Plant’
The Frankfurt Foundation for Children with Cancer was extremely grateful to receive a generous donation of €25,000 as part of its educational and exhibition project ‘The Cell as a Powerhouse – Cell:Two / Divide Me’. We are delighted and honoured that Johannes Schmalzl, Chairman of the Board of the Würth Foundation, came to the Dr. Petra Joh Research House in person to hand over the donation.
The funding provided by the Würth Foundation played a key role in enabling the realisation of this interdisciplinary project, which combines science, art and education and gives schoolchildren creative access to topics such as cell research, cell division and the fundamentals of childhood cancer research. The Würth Foundation is a true innovator in the field of education. It runs schools in Berlin and Künzelsau with an innovative educational approach and understands how children and young people can learn in a way that is easy to grasp – an important goal of our educational project as well.
As part of our project, we collaborated with schools, artists and scientists to create works of art, installations and film projects, which were presented in a large exhibition at the Römer in Frankfurt. The aim of this project is to inspire young people to take an interest in research, promote understanding of basic biology and, at the same time, raise awareness of the situation of children with cancer and their families.
During a tour of our laboratories, Mr Schmalzl was able to gain a personal impression of the research work carried out by our foundation. Here, targeted efforts are being made to further improve the chances of recovery for children with cancer and to reduce the long-term effects of therapies.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to the Würth Foundation for its trust, valuable support and joint commitment to education, research and helping children with cancer.
