On World Childhood Cancer Day 2026, the Frankfurt Foundation for Children with Cancer, under the patronage of Mayor Mike Josef, is opening an extraordinary exhibition that impressively combines science, art and education.
An innovative educational project that awakens young researchers’ hearts and brings science to life.
Under the title “Zell:Zwei / Teil mich” (Cell:Two / Divide Me), pupils from several Frankfurt schools present works of art, installations and video projects created as part of an interdisciplinary educational project. They were accompanied by artists, dedicated teachers and scientists from the Frankfurt Foundation for Children with Cancer.
The young people explored the world of cells, cell division and the basics of cancer research in depth – and transformed this knowledge creatively. The results are surprising, moving and scientifically sound.
Highlights of the exhibition:
- Walk-in cell: An immersive exhibition element that takes visitors right into the heart of biology.
- Microscope stations: Children and adults can discover cells for themselves.
- Hands-on activities & competition: For fun & engagement.
- Stop-motion films and installations: Creative approaches to topics such as cell division, swarm behaviour and cancer research.

ZELL:ZWEI / Teil:mich, the art and education project run by the Frankfurt Foundation for Children with Cancer, impressively demonstrates the inspiring connections that can be made between science and art. Together with dedicated teachers and pupils from various schools in Frankfurt, creative approaches to complex topics such as cell division and cancer research are developed. This wonderful collaboration not only promotes knowledge, but also empathy and understanding – and it shows how curiosity and creativity can give rise to new awareness. In art clubs, the newly acquired knowledge is further developed in pictures and objects. Stop-motion films bring the topics of cell division and swarm behaviour to life in a creative way. The results will be on display in an exhibition at the Römer. I’m looking forward to it.”
